If aliens arrived tomorrow, what’s the first thing you’d ask them?

Oh, WordPress.
You really shouldn’t have asked me this question.
🤣🤣🤣
Anyone who has followed my blog for a while might already know that aliens and I have some unfinished business.
My first question would probably be:
“Have you heard my song?”
More specifically:
“Have you heard Arena 51 – The Calima Conspiracy?”
Because there’s a story behind that song.
And like many great stories…
It began with a typo.
Here on Fuerteventura, we have the Arena Negra music festival, held every November.
One day, however, I was writing about the mysterious Area 51 in Nevada.
Apparently my brain decided that Area 51 and Arena Negra belonged together.
And I typed:
ARENA 51.
One tiny extra N.
A normal person would have noticed the typo, corrected it and continued with their day.
I am apparently not a normal person.
Instead, we started joking about it.
Arena 51 became a place.
Then it became a conspiracy.
Then Fuerteventura became involved.
And then the universe apparently decided to join the joke.
Because sometime afterwards, I came across a post from The Piper Pilot showing Fuerteventura from above.
The caption said:
“It’s not ‘Area 51’, it’s the stratoport at Fuerteventura.”
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Excuse me?!
I’d already accidentally invented Arena 51, and now someone was telling me Fuerteventura had a STRATOPORT?
At that point, the conspiracy had become self-sustaining.

Then came the calima.
Hot Saharan air.
Dust everywhere.
Temperatures climbing.
Sand getting into places where sand has absolutely no business being.
And during one particularly ridiculous heatwave, I joked so much about Arena 51 that eventually there was only one logical thing left to do.
I wrote a song.
Arena 51 – The Calima Conspiracy was born.
And technically, if aliens arrive tomorrow, it won’t even be our first conversation.
Because they’ve already contacted me in the song.
Their transmission begins:
“Incoming transmission from Fuerteventura.”
“Welcome to Arena Negra!”
“Correction. Area 51.”
“Negative. ARENA 51!”
“Wait… that’s not even a real place!”
“It is now, darling!”
Then the aliens detect the calima.
Temperature rising.
Humans overheating.
Intergalactic evacuation apparently required.
Later they contact me directly:
“Earthling Maggie, please respond.”
Their assessment of the situation wasn’t particularly encouraging.
Fuerteventura was ridiculously hot.
Visibility was practically zero.
And their scanners detected:
Five cats.
One dog.
And…
one human hiding in a car.
That would be me.
Because when the house is unbearably hot and you don’t have air conditioning, sometimes the car becomes your temporary refrigerated sanctuary.
Bella wasn’t impressed with the situation either.
According to the song, she wanted:
A spaceship.
A first-class seat.
Air conditioning.
And naturally…
something to eat.
So perhaps if aliens really landed here tomorrow, I wouldn’t ask whether life exists elsewhere in the universe.
That question would seem rather unnecessary with a spaceship parked in front of me.
I wouldn’t ask about the meaning of life either.
We can discuss philosophy later.
I’d walk up to them and say:
“Welcome back! Did you bring the air conditioning this time?”
And then, obviously, I’d have another important question:
“Which version do you prefer—the Original Mix or the Alien Invasion Remix?”
This is serious interplanetary research.
And if they tell me they’ve already heard both?
Well…
Then I’ll finally have confirmation.
Arena 51 was never a typo.
One extra N. One music festival. One calima. One suspicious Fuerteventura stratoport—and somehow the whole thing ended up with its own soundtrack.
Welcome to Arena 51.👽🛸
