Three Things Challenge #MM557
Today’s three words:
DOWN•DELUDE• DENY
Not Every Day Needs to Be Conquered 💜
Some mornings, I wake up ready to take on the world.
Other mornings, the world can wait until I’ve had coffee.
And then there are mornings like this one, when even the coffee looks at me and says:
You’re on your own, woman. 😂
I haven’t slept a wink.
Another night when the temperature refused to drop below 30°C. The house was too hot to sleep, so I sat outside until four in the morning, hoping for a breeze, a cool breath of air—anything.
Apparently, the breeze had other plans.
By morning, I was exhausted.
Completely worn down.
There was a time when I would have felt guilty about doing nothing after a night like that. I’d tell myself to get moving, write something, clean something, accomplish something.
Anything that proved I hadn’t wasted the day.
But I’m not going to delude myself into believing I’m about to conquer the world after a night without sleep.
And I’m certainly not going to deny myself permission to rest.
Sometimes we are simply tired.
Sometimes life is exhausting.
And sometimes Mother Nature turns your house into an oven and apparently forgets where she put the OFF switch.
There’s still that little voice in my head, of course.
You should be doing something.
“I am.”
What?
“Surviving.”
Silence.
Amazing how quickly that shuts it up. 😂
So today, the world can manage without my assistance for a while.
I’ll sit with my coffee, put on some music and wait for my brain to reboot.
The writing will still be there.
The music will still be there.
Everything that needs doing can wait.
Because I’ve finally learned something that took me far too many years to understand:
Resting isn’t quitting.
Slowing down isn’t failing.
And a quiet day doesn’t need an excuse.
Not every day needs to be conquered.
Especially when you haven’t bloody slept.
