September — Day 24
Who taught you how to drive?
My dad. 🚗😂
Although my driving education started long before I was old enough to drive a proper car.
First, Dad built me a little go-kart. Then he built me another one. He was a mechanic, so I suppose cars and engines were always going to become part of my education somehow. 😂
When I was around 16 or 17, he started teaching me to drive a real car.
You’d think that meant I got my licence immediately afterwards.
Nope. 🤣
Life kept getting in the way. There was school, work, pregnancies and everything else, so I didn’t actually get my driving licence until I was 27.
But apparently Dad’s role as my driving instructor and mechanic never officially ended.
Decades later, when one of my many rental cars broke down, who did I call?
Dad. 😂
There I was, standing with a dead rental car while video-calling my retired mechanic father so he could listen to the engine and diagnose it from a distance.
His verdict was basically:
“That engine needs replacing.” 👀
And yes.
Dad was right.
In highly technical mechanical terminology…
The car was fucked. 🤣🤣🤣
And don’t even get me started on the punctures. Had these bloody rental cars actually come with spare tyres, I could have changed them myself!
Dad taught me that too. 😂🛞
So I suppose the answer is still the same after all these years:
Who taught me how to drive? My dad.
And apparently, when things go wrong with a car, I’m still his student.
The lessons have simply moved to video call. 🤣
My new song “Silenced, but not broken” is now avaliable on streaming platforms. 💜
