If you could pick any fictional animal to be your lifelong companion (like a Pokémon or fantasy pet), what would it be?

My Lifelong Fantasy Companion
If you could pick any fictional animal to be your lifelong companion, what would it be?
There is only one answer for me.
Falkor, the luckdragon from The NeverEnding Story.
I fell in love with that wonderful, fluffy creature years ago. He isn’t the sort of dragon who guards a mountain of treasure or sets villages on fire.
He flies through the skies, brings hope when things seem hopeless, and has the most wonderfully reassuring smile.
And let’s be honest…
He looks like an enormous flying dog.
What’s not to love?
Imagine having Falkor as your lifelong companion. Whenever life became a little too much, I could climb onto his back and disappear into the clouds for a while.
No airports. No security queues. No connecting flights.
Fuerteventura to Bergen? Falkor Express.
Although I’d have to ask him to fly gently. I’m not particularly fond of turbulence, even when the aircraft happens to be a magical dragon.
And I suspect Bella would have a few things to say about another dog-shaped creature moving into the household.
The cats would probably demand to know when dinner was being served.
Oscar?
Well, as long as Falkor didn’t arrive wearing black shoes, we should be fine.
But beyond the flying and the adventures, I think what I’d love most is having a companion who reminds me that hope can still exist when the world feels dark.
Someone who stays beside you, believes in you, and helps you find the courage to keep going.
Falkor has always represented that kind of magic to me.
So yes, give me the enormous fluffy luckdragon.
I’ll bring the coffee.
And perhaps a very large dog brush.
Sometimes the greatest magic isn’t being able to fly. It’s having someone beside you who helps you believe you can. 💜
