Mathematics According to a Professional Fibber 🤭
Apparently, we’re doing mathematics this week. I was never informed there would be an exam, so I’ve decided to invent my own answers.
1. What is a logarithm?
The rhythmic sound made by a lumberjack who has fallen asleep on a pile of logs. Usually accompanied by snoring.
2. What is algebra?
A rare species of zebra that has lost its stripes and is currently attending therapy to find its identity.
3. What is an algorithm?
The complicated dance your washing machine performs when it discovers you’ve left a sock in your trousers.
4. What is a quantile?
A tiny tile that believes it is far more important than all the other tiles in the bathroom.
5. What is a quadrangle?
The argument that breaks out when four people try to untangle the same Christmas lights.
6. What is a hexagon?
A magical spell used by witches to make someone disappear. Unfortunately, it only works on missing socks.
7. What is a polygon?
A parrot that has escaped its cage and refuses to return until someone offers it a biscuit.
8. What is a triangle?
The complicated process of getting three cats to agree on which corner of the sofa belongs to whom.
9. What is a parallelogram?
A telegram sent between two people who live on parallel streets but have somehow never met.
10. What is a duodecahedron?
A mythical creature with twelve heads, each insisting it knows the correct way to assemble IKEA furniture.
And that concludes today’s mathematics lesson.
I have checked my answers thoroughly and can confirm that absolutely none of them should be used in an actual examination.
