Neptune Sextile Pluto — Déjà Vu

Have you ever entered a moment and thought:

I’ve been here before.

Not necessarily the same place.

Not even with the same people.

But something about it feels strangely familiar.

A conversation.

A political story.

A cultural shift.

An old fear returning in different clothes.

A pattern you thought humanity had already learned from.

This week, as Neptune sextiles Pluto on 15 September, the cosmic atmosphere may carry a peculiar sense of déjà vu.

And technically, we’ve almost been here before.

Neptune and Pluto already formed this sextile in July.

But the second encounter asks a different question.

Not simply:

Do you recognise the pattern?

But:

What are you going to do differently now that you do?

Neptune — The Dream

Neptune governs dreams, imagination, spirituality, ideals and the invisible currents moving beneath everyday life.

But Neptune also rules illusion.

The stories we want to believe.

The myths cultures build around themselves.

The things we collectively pretend not to see.

When Neptune is involved, reality can sometimes feel like a movie we’ve watched before.

And lately, some of those old science-fiction films don’t seem quite so fictional anymore. 👀😂

Technology once considered impossible becomes ordinary.

Ideas that belonged to fantasy enter everyday life.

The future arrives quietly while we’re making coffee.

Pluto — What Lies Beneath

Pluto doesn’t particularly care about appearances.

Pluto digs.

Power.

Control.

Secrets.

Death and rebirth.

The things buried beneath institutions, relationships and societies eventually come to the surface under Pluto.

And when Pluto meets Neptune, something interesting happens.

The dream meets the underworld.

What we imagined confronts what actually exists beneath it.

Haven’t We Seen This Before?

History can sometimes feel frighteningly repetitive.

Civilisations rise.

Power concentrates.

Systems become rigid.

People rebel.

Old structures collapse.

Something new takes their place.

Then another generation arrives and somehow believes:

Surely we won’t make the same mistakes.

And yet echoes appear.

But an echo is not the original sound.

That’s important.

Because cycles aren’t circles.

I think they’re much closer to spirals.

We may arrive at a familiar point again…

but we’re standing somewhere different when we reach it.

🌀 The Spiral, Not the Circle

Think about the seasons.

Spring returns every year.

But no two springs are identical.

The flowers aren’t exactly the same.

The weather isn’t identical.

The world has changed.

And most importantly:

you have changed.

The person entering September 2026 isn’t the person who entered September 2025.

You’ve experienced things.

Lost things.

Learned things.

Changed your mind about things.

Perhaps even discovered that some beliefs you once defended no longer fit.

Which is particularly interesting after last week’s Uranus retrograde message:

Dig deeper. Question what you thought you knew.

Now Neptune and Pluto seem to answer:

Good. Because the story is returning. What will you do with it this time?

Who Is Telling the Story?

Take an old fairy tale and give it to ten storytellers.

You’ll get ten different stories.

The bones may remain recognisable.

A forest.

A danger.

A journey.

A transformation.

But every storyteller brings something of themselves into the telling.

Life works much the same way.

We inherit circumstances we didn’t create.

We live inside historical cycles already in motion.

We encounter patterns begun long before we arrived.

But that doesn’t mean the ending has already been written.

We participate in the telling.

Every choice alters something.

Perhaps only slightly.

Perhaps enormously.

And sometimes the smallest decision becomes the moment where an old pattern finally changes direction.

Déjà Vu Isn’t Necessarily a Warning

Maybe recognition itself is the gift.

You recognise the relationship pattern sooner.

You notice the manipulation sooner.

You hear the warning buried inside an old story.

You recognise something happening collectively because you’ve read about what happened the last time.

Or perhaps something from your own past returns.

Same lesson.

Different circumstances.

Different you.

That’s not punishment.

It might actually be an opportunity.

Because this time you possess something you didn’t have before:

experience.

💜 Questions for the Week

Where does my life currently feel strangely familiar?

What pattern keeps returning in different forms?

Am I assuming the ending because I recognise the beginning?

What do I know now that I didn’t know the last time?

And perhaps the biggest question:

If this story has been told before, how do I want to tell my version?

Cosmic Whisper

History may rhyme.

Seasons may return.

Old stories may find new voices.

But repetition is not destiny.

You are not standing where you stood before.

You have loved.

You have lost.

You have learned.

You have changed.

So when the universe whispers—

“Haven’t we been here before?”

perhaps the answer is:

“Yes.
But I haven’t been here as the person I am now.”

And that changes the story.

Neptune — 4° Aries

“Two Lovers Strolling Through a Secluded Walk.”

This is such a gentle symbol for Neptune.

It speaks of intimacy, connection, withdrawing from outside noise and discovering something through a private encounter. The “lovers” don’t necessarily have to represent romantic love; symbolically they can represent two parts of ourselves coming together.

With Neptune retrograde, I would take this inward.

Something familiar returns.

An old dream.

An old feeling.

A memory.

Perhaps even a version of ourselves we’d almost forgotten.

And instead of running from it, we’re being invited to walk beside it for a while.

That fits Déjà Vu beautifully.

It isn’t necessarily saying:

Go backwards.

It’s saying:

Revisit this. There’s something here you understand differently now.

Pluto — 4° Aquarius

“A Hindu Yogi Demonstrates His Healing Powers.”

Now Pluto comes along and says:

Transformation comes from mastery within.

This symbol concerns concentrated inner power, spiritual discipline and the ability to transform something through consciousness rather than brute force.

That’s extremely Plutonian.

But in Aquarius, there’s also a collective dimension.

What happens when individuals transform themselves?

Eventually the collective changes too.

And that connects directly with the point we made in our weekly post:

Historical cycles aren’t destiny because the people entering the cycle have changed.

We aren’t powerless passengers on some cosmic train.

Our awareness matters.

Our choices matter.

Our response matters.

Put the Two Sabians Together…

And suddenly they tell a little story.

Neptune 4° Aries:
Walk again with something familiar.

⬇️

Déjà Vu:
I’ve been here before.

⬇️

Pluto 4° Aquarius:
But now I possess the awareness to transform what happens next.

That’s gorgeous.

Neptune remembers.

Pluto transforms.

The past returns—but you don’t have to repeat it.

And there’s another layer I love.

The Neptune symbol contains two people walking together.

The Pluto symbol contains someone demonstrating what they’ve learned.

First comes the private experience.

Then comes the wisdom we bring into the world.

Almost:

Experience → Recognition → Transformation → Contribution.

Which gives us a beautiful Afterlove line for this week:

Cosmic Whisper

Perhaps déjà vu isn’t the Universe telling you that the story must repeat.

Perhaps it’s asking whether you recognise the story soon enough to change the ending.

Same road.
Same echo.
Different awareness.
Different choice.

And therefore…

a different ending.
