September — Day 11
When were you the happiest?
I don’t think I can point to one particular moment in my life and say:
“That was when I was the happiest.”
Happiness isn’t something I want to measure against different periods of my life, as though one year, one day or one memory has to win.
I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by the things that make my life feel like mine.
My family. My pets. A cup of coffee. My writing. 🐾💜
Sometimes happiness is laughter around the house. Sometimes it’s sitting quietly with a cat nearby while I’m writing. Sometimes it’s music playing, coffee beside me and an idea suddenly appearing from nowhere.
There have been storms in my life, just as there have been beautiful calm waters. There will probably be more of both.
But I’ve always believed that, to a certain extent, we are the captains of our own ships.
We can’t control the weather. We can’t control every wave that hits us, and sometimes life changes our course without asking permission.
But we can still hold the wheel.
So when was I the happiest?
I don’t want to leave my happiness somewhere in the past.
I want to keep finding it where I am now.

My new song “Silenced, but not broken” is now avaliable on all streaming platforms. 💜
