Who is your favorite cartoon character?

Some childhood favourites never really leave us. We simply grow older while they stay exactly where we left them—waiting to make us smile again.
Just one?
Not possible. 😂
WordPress really should have learned by now that asking me to choose one favourite—or five favourite apps—is unlikely to produce the requested number.
Apparently, I don’t do limits very well. 🤣
When I started thinking about today’s prompt, several characters immediately came running back from my childhood.
Tom & Jerry has to be there.
Poor Tom could spend an entire episode constructing the most elaborate plan imaginable to catch one tiny mouse, only for Jerry to turn everything against him.
Did I ever learn anything from it?
Probably not.
Did I laugh?
Absolutely. 😂
Then there’s Road Runner.
Beep beep!
And poor Wile E. Coyote with another brilliant ACME invention that you already knew was going to end catastrophically.
He never gave up, though.
You have to admire the determination of someone who can fall off approximately 47 cliffs and still order another parcel from ACME. 🤣
Then we have The Pink Panther.
I loved him too. That wonderful combination of cool, clever and completely ridiculous—and that unmistakable music.
And then there’s one I knew by his Norwegian name:
Streken.
I actually had to look up what he was called elsewhere.
La Linea.
The little man made from one continuous white line, forever walking along it, encountering some obstacle and immediately beginning an animated argument with the person drawing his world. 😂
I loved him.
Perhaps I should have realised even then that I’d eventually become someone who regularly argues with technology.
Streken argued with his animator.
I argue with WordPress.
Same principle, really. 🤣🤣🤣
But if I go even further back, to when I was a little girl still living in the UK, there’s another character who belongs here.
Paddington Bear. 🐻❤️
There’s something about seeing him now that takes me straight back to those earliest childhood years.
The little bear from darkest Peru, arriving at Paddington Station with his suitcase, his hat and that famous label asking someone to please look after him.
I think childhood favourites are funny that way.
You can go decades without thinking about them, and then one picture, one piece of music or one familiar “Beep beep!” suddenly opens a tiny door in your memory.
For a moment, you’re not an adult thinking about bills, responsibilities, appointments or everything else life has collected along the way.
You’re just that little child again.
Watching cartoons.
Laughing.
And completely convinced that this time—THIS TIME—Wile E. Coyote’s plan is definitely going to work.
It won’t.
Obviously.
💥🤣
So who is my favourite cartoon character?
Tom and Jerry.
Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote.
Pink Panther.
Streken.
Paddington Bear.
That’s…
Actually, don’t count them.
We’ve been through this before. 😂
WordPress asked for one.
WordPress received the contents of my childhood television.
You’re welcome. 🤷♀️
