LUST • LUSTRE • LURE.
The Lure of Little Things 💜
She had once thought lust belonged only to youth.
To stolen kisses, racing hearts and that delicious feeling of wanting something — or someone — far too much.
But growing older had taught her differently.
There was a lust for life too.
The first sip of coffee in the morning.
Music turned up louder than necessary.
A sky crowded with stars.
The smell of rain.
A blank page waiting for words.
The sudden lustre of the moon appearing through the clouds.
Little things.
Ordinary things.
Yet each carried its own lure.
“Doesn’t it take more to excite you when you’re older?” someone once asked her.
She laughed.
Actually, it took less.
She no longer needed fireworks.
Give her a beautiful sunset, a song that reached somewhere deep, an unexpected laugh, an animal curled beside her, or a conversation that made her forget the time.
Perhaps that was the secret.
Growing older hadn’t dulled life’s lustre.
It had simply taught her where to look for it.
And she still intended to be thoroughly seduced by life. 💜
