September — Day 9
How do you take your coffee or tea? Or dirty soda?
My drinks apparently haven’t decided which country they belong to.
My favourite coffee is café leche y leche — coffee with milk and sweetened condensed milk. It’s very popular here in the Canary Islands, and after living here for fifteen years, it has definitely become my coffee.
Some days, though, I want something simpler and stronger, and then I’ll happily drink black coffee or a café americano.
Tea is a completely different matter.
My tea remains firmly British.
Milk and sugar, please.
Perhaps being born in the UK left permanent instructions somewhere in my DNA:
Tea = milk. End of discussion.
And then there’s soda.
I’m not a huge soda drinker, but when I do have one, it’s usually Fanta Limón. 🍋
So apparently my drinks tell my life story rather well:
Canarian coffee, British tea and lemon Fanta.
All I’m missing is something Norwegian to complete the geographical confusion.

My new song “Silenced, but not broken” is now avaliable on all streaming platforms. 💜
