Plumes, tufts, mosses, fabric, threads, forest, filtering, ruffle, flow

https://wp.me/p1CKcK-11c

The forest had been weaving long before humans learned how.

Morning light came filtering through the canopy, catching silver threads of spiderweb between the branches. Below, tufts of grass pushed through cracks in the earth while ancient mosses covered the stones in a soft green layer.

I stopped beneath an old tree and watched the breeze move through its leaves.

They began to ruffle.

For one strange moment, they no longer looked like leaves at all.

They became plumes of emerald feathers, rising and falling with the breath of the forest.

And then my imagination took over.

Roots became seams.

Vines became ribbons.

Spiderwebs became lace.

Leaves folded themselves into fabric, and suddenly the whole forest seemed to flow around me like an enormous gown being stitched by invisible hands.

No pattern.

No scissors.

No designer.

Just nature creating its own impossible fantasy.

Perhaps that is why we keep trying to imitate her.

We weave flowers into cloth, feathers into hats and forests into stories, believing we invented beauty.

But nature was the first artist.

We have simply been borrowing her threads.
