#WeeklyPrompts Weekend Challenge – Lilac

Lilac
“Lilac is a pale violet colour that brings to mind soft spring blooms, nostalgic memories, and gentle peace.” ~ Unknown
Purple has always been my favourite colour, in all its different shades, but there is something particularly gentle about lilac.
It doesn’t shout for attention.
It whispers.
Lilac reminds me of old notebooks, pressed flowers, handwritten poems and memories that suddenly return when you least expect them.
It is the colour of twilight — that quiet moment when daylight hasn’t completely disappeared and the night hasn’t quite arrived.
Perhaps that is why lilac feels a little magical to me.
It seems to belong somewhere between worlds.
Between yesterday and tomorrow.
Between memory and possibility.
Between holding on and letting go.
And maybe that is what September needs.
After all the noise of summer, there comes a softer season. A moment to look back at where we have been while still leaving space for whatever comes next.
Some memories make us smile.
Some still ache.
Some people are no longer beside us, yet somehow their presence remains woven through our lives — in a song, a feather, a familiar phrase, or a sudden thought that seems to arrive from nowhere.
Lilac feels like that to me.
Not sadness.
Not quite happiness either.
Something softer.
Remembrance wrapped in peace.
And perhaps that is why I love this colour so much.
