What’s the bravest thing you’ve ever done when no one was watching?
I have done things in my life that probably looked much braver from the outside.
But when I read this question, my answer came immediately.
I created this blog.
That might not sound particularly brave.
Nobody was watching when I sat in front of the screen and began putting my thoughts into words.
There was no applause.
No audience waiting.
No one telling me I could do it.
Just me and a blank page.
For a long time, I had forgotten what it felt like to truly use my own voice.
Life has a way of doing that sometimes. Responsibilities, difficult experiences, caring for others, grief and simply surviving can slowly make your own voice quieter.
Then I started writing again.
At first, it was just words.
A blog post here.
A poem there.
Thoughts I had carried inside myself finally finding somewhere to go.
And little by little, something changed.
I started finding my way back to myself.
This blog became much more than somewhere to publish words. It became a place where I could be creative, laugh, remember, question things, tell stories, write about grief and speak about the things that matter to me.
Eventually, those words even became lyrics.
And the lyrics became music. 🎶
Looking back, I don’t think creating the blog was brave because I pressed the Publish button.
The brave part happened before that.
It was deciding that my voice was worth finding again.
It was allowing myself to take up a little space in the world and say:
This is me.
These are my words.
And I have something to say.
Nobody was watching when that journey began.
But perhaps some of the bravest things we ever do happen exactly that way.
Quietly.
When nobody is applauding.
When nobody even knows we’re trying.
