The Personal Quality of Time — September 2026
September arrives with a very different energy.
It feels deep, layered and a little contradictory — almost as though the Universe is asking us to move forward while also reminding us that not everything can, or should, be rushed.
The beginning of the month may feel especially demanding. Expectations can be high while our energy levels are saying something completely different.
And perhaps that is September’s first lesson:
You do not have to do everything at once.
September 1 — Jupiter, Saturn & Mars
On September 1, Jupiter in Leo forms a trine to Saturn in Aries, while Mars in Cancer squares Saturn and sextiles Mercury in Virgo.
There is ambition here. We may know what we want to accomplish and even see where we want to go — but Mars square Saturn can feel like trying to drive with one foot on the accelerator and the other on the brake.
Frustrating? Absolutely.
But it can also teach us patience.
This is not necessarily the time to force things into existence. Work with what you have. Take care of the smaller jobs. Make plans. Organise. Research. Prepare.
And most importantly, listen to your body and your energy.
Sometimes resting is also part of the work.
September 10 — Venus Enters Scorpio
Now the energy begins to deepen.
Venus enters Scorpio on September 10 and immediately opposes Chiron, retrograde in early Taurus.
Venus in Scorpio doesn’t really do superficial.
She wants honesty.
She wants depth.
She wants the conversations underneath the conversations.
Love, relationships, attraction, self-worth, money and our personal values can all become more intense. Old wounds may surface, especially around trust, intimacy, rejection or the fear of losing something — or someone — we deeply value.
But wounds don’t always return simply to hurt us.
Sometimes they return because we are finally ready to look at them differently.
Mercury also enters Libra on September 10, helping us find words for things that may previously have been difficult to express.
Speak honestly, but gently.
Listen as much as you speak.
Sometimes one truthful conversation can change everything.
Uranus also turns retrograde on this day and remains retrograde until February 8, 2027.
The changes and awakenings of recent months may need another look. What seemed exciting at first may need adjusting. What seemed impossible may suddenly make more sense.
Retrogrades aren’t always about going backwards.
Sometimes we need to turn around briefly to understand how far we have already travelled.
September 11 — New Moon in Virgo
The Virgo New Moon arrives on September 11.
Virgo asks:
What needs sorting out?
And that doesn’t only mean cupboards and paperwork.
It can mean our thoughts, routines, priorities, boundaries and all those little things we’ve been telling ourselves we’ll deal with “later.”
Mercury, ruler of this New Moon, connects with Pluto, Neptune and Uranus over the following days.
This is beautiful energy for research, writing, spiritual work and those moments when one tiny piece of information suddenly makes several other pieces fall into place.
Look beneath the obvious.
Ask another question.
Follow the thread.
Writers and other creatives may find the words flowing more easily now. There is imagination from Neptune, depth from Pluto and flashes of inspiration from Uranus.
Keep a notebook nearby.
You never know when inspiration will arrive.
September 15 — Venus Square Pluto
Well…
This one isn’t exactly subtle.
Venus in Scorpio squares Pluto in Aquarius on September 15.
Passion, desire, obsession, attraction, jealousy, power struggles and deep emotional truths can rise to the surface.
Relationships may become intense.
Very intense.
Something previously ignored may refuse to be ignored any longer.
Questions around control, fear of loss, unmet needs, money and values may need to be addressed.
But this energy doesn’t have to become destructive.
Venus and Pluto together can be incredibly creative.
Write.
Paint.
Make music.
Dance.
Turn the intensity into something.
Some of the most powerful art is born from emotions we couldn’t find another way to express.
September 18 — Mercury Opposite Saturn
Mercury opposes Saturn on September 18.
This isn’t necessarily light-hearted energy, but it can be productive.
Conversations may become serious. Decisions may need careful thought. We may have to face practical realities we would rather avoid.
But Saturn isn’t here simply to say no.
Sometimes Saturn asks:
How can we make this work in the real world?
Chiron also moves back into Aries, where it will remain until April 2027.
The journey back toward the self continues.
Who are you when you stop trying to be who everyone else expects you to be?
Perhaps that’s one of Chiron in Aries’ biggest questions.
September 23 — Libra Season & The Equinox
On September 23, the Sun enters Libra and we reach the Equinox — that beautiful moment of balance between light and darkness.
Balance, however, doesn’t mean everything has to be perfect.
Life rarely is.
Sometimes balance simply means knowing when to move and when to stop.
And that becomes especially important as we approach the Full Moon.
September 26 — Full Moon in Aries
This is an interesting Full Moon.
The Moon is conjunct Neptune while the Sun forms supportive aspects to Pluto and Uranus, creating a kite pattern in the sky.
There is a strange mixture of movement and stillness.
Part of us may want to GO!
Another part whispers:
Wait.
And perhaps both are right.
If you already know where you’re heading, this may be the moment to take a first step.
But if you don’t know yet, don’t force an answer.
Neptune can blur the edges between intuition, dreams, hopes and reality.
Listen to your intuition — but keep your feet on the ground.
Mars in Cancer also squares Chiron in Aries at the final degrees of their signs. Old feelings of helplessness, frustration or vulnerability could be triggered.
Be careful about reacting from an old wound to something happening in the present.
This Full Moon is wonderful for meditation, spiritual work, ceremony, journaling or simply sitting quietly beneath the Moon.
Sometimes clarity doesn’t arrive because we searched harder.
Sometimes it arrives when everything becomes quiet enough for us to hear it.
September 28 — Mars Enters Leo
And suddenly…
Fire.
Mars enters Leo on September 28 while the Sun trines Uranus.
After the emotional waters and introspection of much of September, we finally receive a burst of confidence, creativity and movement.
Mars in Leo wants to create.
To express.
To act.
To say:
This is who I am.
Projects that have been sitting quietly in the background may suddenly start moving.
Use the energy.
September 30 — Mercury Enters Scorpio
Mercury enters Scorpio as September comes to an end.
And once again, we are invited beneath the surface.
Mercury in Scorpio doesn’t simply ask what happened?
It asks:
Why?
It researches.
It investigates.
It notices what isn’t being said.
And it isn’t easily satisfied with half an answer.
With Mercury opposing Chiron during the transition, words may touch sensitive places. Conversations can reveal uncomfortable truths — but they may also bring understanding and healing.
Choose your words carefully.
And listen carefully to the spaces between them.
September’s Message
September isn’t asking us to skim across the surface.
It asks us to go deeper.
Into relationships.
Into creativity.
Into old wounds.
Into our dreams.
Into ourselves.
There may be moments when we want to rush forward and moments when the Universe seems determined to make us wait.
Perhaps neither is wrong.
Because astrology isn’t about the planets deciding our lives for us.
The planets show us the weather. We still decide what we do with it.
September asks us to be honest about what we need, what we value, what we are ready to release — and what deserves our energy going forward.
And as the month closes, the energy begins moving again.
Maybe the answer isn’t to force the next chapter.
Maybe it is simply to recognise when the door opens…
and have the courage to walk through it. 💜
