Dailyprompt-2869
If the salary was the same, what job would you be doing right now and why?
This prompt is a little difficult for me to answer.
I’m on a medical disability pension, so choosing between different jobs based on salary isn’t really part of my life anymore.
But perhaps I can turn the question around.
If money wasn’t an issue, and if health and physical limitations weren’t part of the equation, what would I choose to spend my time doing?
Right now, I think my answer would be:
Writing and making music. 🎹
Funny enough, that’s already what I’m doing—just without calling it a traditional nine-to-five job.
Over the last year, I’ve returned to writing.
I’ve written poetry and lyrics.
I’ve created music.
I’ve learned more about production.
I’ve released my own songs onto streaming platforms.
And I’ve discovered how much I love taking taking an emotion, a thought, a memory or even a little piece of madness and turning it into something creative.
Some days that’s a serious song.
Some days it’s a poem.
And apparently some days it’s accidentally inventing a secret alien gladiator facility called Arena 51. 👽🤣
Creativity has terrible quality control.
So if someone offered me the same salary regardless of what job I chose?
I’d choose something involving words and music.
I’d write.
I’d create.
I’d sit at my keyboard and turn stories and emotions into songs.
Perhaps I’ve already found the job I’d choose.
It just arrived in my life wearing a different name:
The Afterlove Voice. 💜
Sometimes our purpose doesn’t arrive with a job title or a salary. Sometimes it’s simply the thing that makes us feel alive.
