Share a hobby you’ve picked up recently — what got you into it?

Over the last year, I’ve found my way back to something that had been quiet inside me for a very long time.
Writing music. 🎶💜
I’ve been writing lyrics, creating songs, learning more about music production, and eventually taking the enormous step of releasing my music on streaming platforms.
But this journey didn’t begin because I suddenly decided I needed a new hobby.
It began with grief.
With sadness.
With frustration.
And with trying to process everything I was feeling after Liam Payne died.
There were emotions I couldn’t always explain in an ordinary conversation.
So I wrote them down.
A thought became a line.
A line became a verse.
A verse became a song.
And somehow, through all of that emotion, I found my creative voice again.
That voice eventually became:
The Afterlove Voice.
What began as somewhere to put my grief slowly became something much bigger.
I’ve written songs I never imagined I’d write.
I’ve learned new things about creating and producing music.
I’ve released that music into the world for other people to hear.
And I’ve discovered that sometimes creativity doesn’t arrive during the happiest chapters of our lives.
Sometimes it grows from the places that hurt.
Today makes this particular Daily Prompt especially emotional.
29 August is Liam’s birthday.
Today, people who love and remember him are gathering in Wolverhampton, including at West Park and the bandstand, to celebrate his life and remember the person behind the music.
I can’t be there physically.
But I can do the thing his inspiration helped awaken in me.
I can create.
I can write.
I can play the piano.
I can make music.
And I can keep using the voice I found again.
I wish the circumstances that started this chapter had been completely different.
I wish there had been no grief to turn into songs.
But I am grateful that somewhere inside the sadness, creativity gave me somewhere to place everything I couldn’t carry in silence.
So perhaps songwriting isn’t really just a hobby anymore.
It has become part of how I process life.
Part of how I remember.
Part of how I heal.
And part of who I am.
The Afterlove Voice. 💜🎶
On your birthday, Liam, thank you for the music—and for unknowingly inspiring me to find my own again.
Happy heavenly birthday. 💜
✨ Sometimes grief becomes words.
Sometimes words become music.
And sometimes music helps us find our voice again.

This tribute will be at West Park in Wolverhampton.
