This morning, Norway lost its King.

His Majesty King Harald V died peacefully at Rikshospitalet at 06:35 on 28 August 2026.

There are moments when words feel terribly small.

King Harald has been part of Norway for as long as so many of us can remember. A King, yes, but also something more difficult to describe — a steady presence in the background of our lives.

Someone familiar.

Someone constant.

Someone who somehow made the Crown feel human

Today my astrology teacher shared some words about him, and one sentence stopped me completely:

“Our Father has died.”

Not simply our King.

Our Father.

And perhaps that says more about the relationship between King Harald and the Norwegian people than any royal title ever could.

She described him as a man whose love from the Norwegian people was not “blind adoration,” but recognition of the wisdom, respect, humanity and love he consistently showed.

That stood out to me too.

You don’t have to worship a monarchy to recognise a good human being.

And King Harald was deeply loved.

🌕 And Then There Is the Astrology

Those who have followed my astrology posts know that early this morning we experienced the Pisces Lunar Eclipse.

Yesterday, before King Harald died, my teacher posted Norway’s national chart and pointed out something remarkable:

the eclipse was falling directly across Norway’s nodal axis.

Norway’s South Node lies at approximately 3° Pisces, opposite the North Node in Virgo.

The eclipsed Moon was around 5° Pisces.

And King Harald?

He was born with his Sun at approximately 2° Pisces.

Suddenly three stories meet in the same tiny part of the zodiac:

King Harald’s Sun.

Norway’s South Node

The Pisces Lunar Eclipse

My teacher described him today as:

“A true son of the land.”

That sentence may be the one that stays with me.

Because his Pisces Sun was already closely connected with Norway’s nodal axis from the moment he was born.

And on the morning he left this world, an eclipse illuminated that very axis.

The Eclipse Door

My teacher wrote:

“Our amazing King Harald crossed over to the other side this morning at 06.35, just as the eclipse door was opened.”

Astrologically, I don’t believe we should use eclipses to declare that someone will die.

Nor would I ever claim that an eclipse caused his passing.

But astrology has always fascinated me because of moments like this — when the symbolism in the sky seems to mirror what is happening below with extraordinary precision.

This was not simply an eclipse touching one man’s horoscope.

It was touching the horoscope of Norway itself.

And Norway woke beneath that eclipse to discover that its King was gone.

♓ The Sabian Symbol

Yesterday we also looked at the Sabian Symbol for the eclipse degree.

5° Pisces — “A Church Bazaar.”

Its symbolism concerns community.

People gathering.

Giving.

Supporting one another.

Taking something we possess and offering it for the benefit of somebody else.

Yesterday I found that symbol beautiful.

Today it feels completely different.

Because today an entire country is gathering in grief.

People are sharing photographs and memories. Flags are lowered. Stories are being told. People who never met King Harald personally nevertheless feel that something familiar has disappeared from Norway.

Perhaps that is the deeper expression of this Sabian Symbol:

community becomes visible when something touches everyone at once.

🇳🇴 A Constant Is Gone

There was another sentence my teacher wrote yesterday, while King Harald was still alive:

“The King represents something stable — a warm presence. For me — he’s always been there — like a constant.”

I think that’s what many people are grieving today.

Not simply the loss of a constitutional monarch.

The loss of a constant.

Kings belong to history books.

But Harald belonged to people’s lives.

He laughed.

He cried publicly with his people.

He comforted Norway through tragedy.

And through decades of enormous change, somehow he remained there.

Until this morning.

🌕 From One Chapter to Another

Eclipses have traditionally symbolised thresholds.

Something ends.

Something changes.

Something previously hidden becomes visible.

And the lunar nodes speak of the strange intersection between what has been and what comes next.

Perhaps that is why this particular eclipse feels so profound for Norway.

A King whose own Sun rested upon Norway’s nodal axis departed this world while that same axis was illuminated by an eclipse.

I won’t call that a prediction.

I won’t tell anyone what they must believe it means.

But as an astrologer, I cannot look at that symbolism without feeling its weight.

And as a Norwegian, today I simply feel the loss.

King Harald once belonged to the young prince in those old black-and-white photographs.

Then he became our Crown Prince.

Our King.

Our constant.

And now he belongs to history.

But perhaps the love people are expressing today tells us something else:

some people leave an office. Others leave an imprint.

King Harald left an imprint.

🇳🇴❤️

Hvil i fred, Kong Harald V.

Takk for tryggheten.

Takk for varmen.

Takk for humoren.

Takk for menneskeligheten.

Takk for alt.

Cosmic Whisper

Sometimes an eclipse doesn’t tell us what will happen.

It simply illuminates the doorway when one chapter closes.

And beneath a Pisces Moon, a nation stood together as one of its constants slipped quietly into history.

A true son of the land.
