While Norway Holds Its Breath
Tonight,the Moon approaches shadow,
and Norway holds its breath.
From windows, hospital rooms,
quiet kitchens and distant shores,
we wait beneath the same sky.
Our King lies somewhere
between the hands of medicine
and the mystery none of us can command.
For nearly a lifetime
he has been
there—
a steady presence,
a familiar voice,
a thread stitched quietly
through generations.
Tomorrow morning
Earth's shadow will cross the Moon.
Not destroy it.
Not diminish it.
Only cover its light
for a little while.
And perhaps tonight
that is the image I need—
the Moon still whole
inside the darkness.
So while the heavens turn,
and a country waits
for news it is afraid to hear,
we send our thoughts,
our prayers,
our love.
To Harald.
To Sonja.
To the family beside him.
And beneath an eclipsing Moon,
Norway whispers as one:
May there still be light.
