What are some objects that you can’t throw away because they are a piece of you?
There are some things I could never throw away, no matter how old, worn or seemingly insignificant they become.
One is my grandmother’s old coffee cup. ☕ It’s chipped now, but that doesn’t matter. To anyone else, it might simply look like an old cup that should have been replaced years ago.
To me, it’s hers.
Then there are the first drawings my children made. They’re little pieces of childhood captured on paper — wonky people, strange-looking animals, colourful scribbles and all. 😂 You can’t replace those once they’re gone.
And I’ve kept the first seashells my daughters collected after we moved to the Canary Islands. 🐚
They’re just shells, really. There are millions like them scattered along the beaches.
But those shells belong to the beginning of our life here. Little hands picked them up when these islands were still a new adventure for us.
I suppose that’s why I keep things like these.
Their monetary value is almost nothing, but their memory value is priceless.
A chipped coffee cup.
Children’s drawings.
A handful of seashells.
To somebody else, perhaps they’re just things.
To me, they’re pieces of people, places and moments I never want to lose. 💜

My new song “Silenced, but not broken” is now avaliable on all streaming platforms. 💜
