Get to Know You #103!

Get to Know You round 103

Three more questions from Kymber, and apparently this week we’re exposing both my superstitions and my driving soundtrack. 😂

1 What’s something you enjoy that would confuse a time traveler from 1920?

Making music on a computer. 🎹💻🎶

I can sit at home with my laptop, connect my instruments, record and mix different sounds, create an entire song and then release it so people around the world can listen to it almost immediately.

I think the first question would be:

“But… where is the orchestra?”

And then I’d probably make things worse by trying to explain streaming.

2 What’s a tiny superstition you follow even though you know it doesn’t matter?

I don’t walk under ladders.

Do I logically believe something terrible will happen if I walk underneath one?

No.

Am I willing to walk underneath one just to prove that?

Also no. 🤣

I’ll take the little detour around it, thank you very much.

3 What’s something you do that always feels like it should have background music?

Driving. 🚗🎶

Although in my case, it doesn’t just feel like it should have background music.

It HAS background music.

There’s something about driving through Fuerteventura with the scenery passing by and a favourite song playing that turns an ordinary journey into my own little movie.

And if Mr. Vain by Culture Beat comes on?

Well…

The volume might accidentally increase. 🫣🤣🎶

My 19-year-old daughter recently informed me that DGT can fine you for having the music too loud.

Cue me wondering whether the Guardia Civil were going to pull me over for reliving my DJ days behind the wheel. 😂

So, after a little investigation, we established that there isn’t a nationwide DGT rule saying “Mr. Vain above this volume = multa.” Of course, music shouldn’t distract you from driving, headphones and AirPods are a definite no while driving, and excessive noise can be covered by local regulations.

Therefore, for legal purposes, my personal road movie now comes with a disclaimer:

Background music will be played at a responsible volume.

Terms and conditions may become slightly negotiable when Mr. Vain comes on. 🤣🤣🤣

Your time‑traveler answer was great. I could hear the confusion when they asked where the orchestra went. And your ladder superstition made me laugh because I do the same thing. Your driving answer was fun to read, too. I have a soundtrack going in my car, too. lol Thank you so much for playing!

I love having music on when I’m in a car! So freeing, to have it on, and roll the windows down and play it loud!
