What’s a moment in pop culture that you’ll remember forever?
How am I supposed to choose one? 😂
I’ve lived through so many moments in music and pop culture that have stayed with me.
I remember when Elvis Presley died, and then the shock when John Lennon was killed. Those weren’t simply music stories; they were moments when it felt as though the whole world stopped for a while.
Then came the 1980s.
Michael Jackson and Thriller. That wasn’t merely an album or a music video—it felt like an event.
Prince and Purple Rain. 💜 Prince was something completely different. The music, the clothes, the attitude, the refusal to fit neatly into anybody’s box.
Then Madonna and “Vogue.” Suddenly everyone was striking poses. 😂
And years later came Lady Gaga. I remember her arrival with those early songs, particularly “Poker Face,” and thinking: Who is this woman? 😂 I’ve had tremendous respect for her artistry ever since. She isn’t afraid to shock or provoke through her music, performances or clothes, but underneath all the spectacle is an incredibly talented musician and songwriter.
Yesterday I was reminded of another moment I’d almost forgotten.
I saw an old awards-show clip where One Direction had won an award and some people in the audience were booing them. Gaga got out of her seat, went backstage to the boys and encouraged them, telling them she thought they deserved to be there.
That says something about an artist too.
Pop culture isn’t only the songs, outrageous outfits, awards or headlines that everybody remembers.
Sometimes it’s a small human moment behind all of that noise that stays with you.
So I can’t choose just one.
From Elvis to Lennon, Michael to Prince, Madonna to Gaga, and One Direction—I’ve been lucky enough to watch a lot of music history happen in real time.
And considering how much music has always meant to me, I wouldn’t want to pick only one anyway.
