24 August

Today we are honouring Liam’s charity work.

• Trussell / Trussell Trust & UK food banks. In 2020 Liam helped support more than 100 food-bank centres, and Trussell later said his support funded more than 360,000 meals during Covid. He didn’t just donate: he actually volunteered at Euston Foodbank, restocking shelves and packing food.

• Trekstock — a charity supporting young adults with cancer. Liam and Harry Styles became ambassadors, and Liam gave his time to fundraising campaigns for the organisation. Trekstock itself published a remembrance of Liam and his work with them.

• UNICEF — Liam supported UNICEF UK’s Children in Danger work, including its campaign concerning preventable childhood diseases. UNICEF’s own annual report records Liam participating in its #BeatDisease campaign.

• Comic Relief / Red Nose Day — through One Direction, including One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks) and their work connected with Ghana.

• Children in Need — also supported during his One Direction years.

• Action/2015 / Action 1D — the band used its enormous audience to draw attention to poverty, inequality and other global issues.

• Believe in Magic — Liam and Louis Tomlinson supported the charity for seriously ill children, including its Cinderella Ball.

• Stand Up To Cancer — Liam and Louis appeared together on Celebrity Gogglebox in support of the campaign.

• Soccer Aid for UNICEF — Liam captained the England team in 2022 and returned in 2023.

• Chose Love He didn’t just lend his name to charity. He created for it. 💜Liam designed and painted this artwork himself to raise money for refugees through Choose Love.

• And toward the end of his life, Liam also spoke publicly about going through people’s fundraising pages and helping complete donations for people who needed medical treatment.
