How did you meet your significant other?
Well, this one has a slightly unusual answer.
I met my husband through my ex-husband. 🤭
My now-husband and I were friends for about ten years before we ever became a couple.
For a long time, that’s simply what we were—friends.
But during those years, he eventually witnessed some of the abuse I was living with in my first marriage.
Once he saw it for himself, things changed.
He began distancing himself from my ex, and he told me something I’ve never forgotten:
He would always be there for me and the kids.
There were no grand declarations of romance at the time.
He was simply my friend.
Someone who saw what was happening and cared enough not to turn away.
Life eventually took us in a direction neither of us could have predicted when we first met.
That friendship became love.
We built a life and a family together.
And all these years later, I sometimes think about how strange life’s paths can be.
The person who would eventually become my husband had already been part of my life for about a decade before either of us knew where the story was heading.
Perhaps some of the strongest relationships don’t begin with fireworks.
Sometimes they begin quietly—with friendship, trust, and someone saying:
“I’ll be there.”
And then proving that they meant it. 💜
Sometimes love doesn’t arrive as a stranger. Sometimes it has been standing beside you as a friend all along.
