Which author would you love to have dinner with?

Some people probably won’t agree with my choice, but I don’t even have to think about this one.
Margit Sandemo. 💜
I became hooked on her writing in the late 1980s, and I think I’ve read practically everything she published.
What fascinates me isn’t only the worlds and characters she created. It’s also her own story.
She started writing relatively late in life and then went on to create an incredible number of novels and several enormous series.
As someone who believes it’s never too late to follow your creativity, I’d love to sit across a dinner table from her and ask:
Where did all those characters come from?
Did they sometimes take over the story and refuse to follow her plans?
How did she keep an imaginary world alive across dozens and dozens of books?
And how did it feel knowing that characters born in her imagination became almost like family to readers around the world?
My greatest favourites are the three connected series:
The Legend of the Ice People,
The Warlock,
and The Legend of the Realm of Light.
Those stories have stayed with me for decades.
Some books you read and eventually forget.
Others move into a little corner of your soul and apparently decide they’re never leaving. 😂
Margit Sandemo’s books did that to me.
So yes, I’d choose dinner with Margit.
Although knowing how many questions I’d have…
We might need breakfast the following morning too. 😂💜
It’s never too late to begin creating. You never know how many lives the world inside your imagination might eventually touch.
