Before We Grew Up
We didn’t need much then.
A field beneath our feet,sunshine on our faces,and a hand to hold when we spun too fast.
The sheep probably wondered what on earth we were doing.
We didn’t care.
We laughed until our bellies hurt,ran until our legs were tired,and believed an afternoon could last forever.
There were no calendars,no bills,no tomorrow demanding our attention.
Only this moment.
Perhaps that’s something childhood understood better than we do—
happiness doesn’t always need a reason.
Sometimes you simply take someone’s hand,
spin around,
and laugh.
