When the Sky Speaks Loudly
There are weeks when the heavens whisper.
And then there are weeks like this.
On 12 August, the skies bring us a remarkable combination of celestial events: a Total Solar Eclipse in Leo, the Perseid meteor shower around its annual peak, and a gathering of six planets across the morning sky.
Astronomically, it is spectacular.
Astrologically, the symbolism is equally powerful.
Something is changing.
Something is beginning.
And Leo asks us to have the courage to meet it with an open heart.
Total Solar Eclipse in Leo
12 August 2026 — 20°02′ Leo
The centrepiece of the week is the Total Solar Eclipse at 20°02′ Leo.
Solar eclipses are New Moons intensified.
They speak of beginnings, turning points and chapters whose significance may only become clear with time.
And this one happens in Leo.
Leo rules the heart.
Creativity.
Courage.
Self-expression.
Leadership.
And the willingness to stand beneath the light and say:
This is who I am.
But there is another layer.
The Lunar Nodes have only recently moved onto the Aquarius–Leo axis, with the South Node in Leo.
So perhaps this isn’t simply about becoming more visible.
It may be about releasing the need for approval.
Releasing the performance.
Releasing an identity created for somebody else’s expectations.
And discovering what remains when the applause disappears.
Your authentic heart.
Perseids — Wishes Across the Darkness
As though an eclipse weren’t enough, the Perseid meteor shower also reaches its peak around 12–13 August.
For centuries, shooting stars have inspired wishes, myths and wonder.
Astrology doesn’t assign the Perseids the same meaning as planets or eclipses, but symbolically I love their presence beside this Leo eclipse.
The Sun disappears.
The stars fall.
And for one extraordinary moment, we’re reminded just how enormous the Universe really is.
Perhaps some wishes aren’t asking to be wished anymore.
Perhaps they’re asking to be lived.
Six Planets Across the Morning Sky
Around the same period, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Saturn and Neptune can be described as forming a planetary parade across the sky.
Astrologically, they represent very different voices:
Jupiter — expansion and faith
Mercury — thought and communication
Mars — courage and action
Uranus — awakening and change
Saturn — responsibility and structure
Neptune — dreams and intuition
It’s almost as though every part of us is being called into the conversation.
The dream.
The plan.
The courage.
The unexpected possibility.
And the faith to begin.
Leo’s Question
This eclipse doesn’t ask:
Who does everyone else expect you to be?
It asks:
Who are you when you stop performing and simply become yourself?
That’s a much harder question.
But perhaps it’s also the beginning of freedom.
Cosmic Whisper
The Sun disappears.
The meteors streak through the darkness.
The planets gather across the heavens.
And somewhere beneath that extraordinary sky…
a new story begins.
You don’t have to know where it leads.
You don’t have to have every answer.
You only need enough courage to listen when your heart whispers:
It’s time.

Total Solar Eclipse in Leo
♌ 21° Leo
“Intoxicated Chickens Dizzily Flap Their Wings Trying to Fly.”
😂 Yes. Seriously. Of all the majestic Leo imagery we could have received for a total solar eclipse, the Sabian Symbols gave us drunk chickens trying to fly.
But beneath the slightly hilarious image is a surprisingly profound message.
✨ The symbolism
The chickens are attempting something they aren’t quite prepared for.
They have experienced an altered state and suddenly believe they can soar—but enthusiasm alone doesn’t give them the ability to fly.
This symbol speaks about:
- excitement exceeding readiness
- attempting too much too quickly
- escaping ordinary limitations
- altered perceptions
- overconfidence
- reaching toward a higher state before becoming properly grounded
And with Jupiter newly in Leo, this becomes even more interesting.
Jupiter says:
“Go bigger!”
Leo says:
“Follow your heart!”
The eclipse says:
“Begin again.”
But the Sabian Symbol quietly adds:
“Yes… but make sure you actually have wings.” 😂
The South Node in Leo
This changes the symbolism considerably.
The South Node has just entered Leo, beginning an eighteen-month process of examining the shadow side of Leo:
the need for applause,
the performance,
the ego,
the desire to be recognised,
and the temptation to believe we are invincible.
The eclipse can expose where confidence has quietly become overconfidence.
There’s nothing wrong with dreaming enormously.
But dreams need foundations.
Otherwise we’re simply chickens convinced we’re eagles. 😂
Sun & Moon Together
Because this is a Solar Eclipse/New Moon, both the Sun and Moon occupy this same Sabian degree.
Symbolically, conscious will (Sun) and emotional instinct (Moon) meet inside the same image.
That makes the question especially potent:
Am I genuinely ready for the future I’m asking for?
Not:
“Do I want it?”
But:
“Have I prepared myself to hold it?”
Those are very different questions.
And then the Perseids…
On the ground:
🐔 Chickens desperately attempting to fly.
Above them:
☄️ meteors genuinely flying across the heavens.
😂💜
And there’s something rather beautiful hidden inside that.
Perhaps we don’t have to become something we’re not in order to reach the stars.
Maybe we’re supposed to discover our own way of flying.

This isn’t an ordinary New Moon.
The 12 August Total Solar Eclipse in Leo opens a new chapter around courage, creativity, identity and authenticity. But with the South Node now travelling through Leo, we’re also being asked to distinguish between shining because it is who we are and performing because we need approval.
And remember our Sabian chickens:

The eclipse illuminates your foundations: home, family, ancestry and emotional security.
An old family pattern may be ready to end, allowing you to build something that feels more authentically yours.

♊ Gemini — Your Voice Matters
Words become powerful.
Writing, conversations, learning and communication may take an unexpected new direction. Something you’ve been thinking about could finally need to be spoken.
But don’t become one of our chickens and announce everything before you’ve thought it through. 😂

Money and material security may be highlighted, but underneath lies something deeper:
self-worth.
You are being asked to reconsider what—and who—you truly value.

This is deeply personal.
The eclipse occurs in your sign, initiating a new cycle around identity, confidence and how you present yourself to the world.
But the South Node says this isn’t about becoming louder.
It’s about becoming more authentic.
