Between Yesterday and Almost
I found the truth tucked between yesterday and almost.
Not in the memories I replayed a thousand times.
Not in the futures I imagined but never reached.
It was waiting in the narrow space between them—
where regret had finally grown tired,
and hope hadn’t quite given up.
I had spent years asking,
“What if?”
What if I had spoken sooner?
What if I had stayed longer?
What if life had chosen a different path?
But the truth wasn’t hiding inside those questions.
It was resting quietly between them.
Yesterday had taught me.
Almost had humbled me.
And somewhere in the middle,
I discovered the only thing that had ever really belonged to me—
this moment.
Not finished.
But wonderfully, undeniably,
mine.
Perhaps truth is never found at the beginning or the end of a journey.
Perhaps it waits patiently
between what has been,
and what almost was,
until we’re finally ready
to see it.
