What’s a skill you consider basic, that most people don’t actually know how to do?
I think one of the most basic skills is knowing how to disagree with someone without being unkind.
Sadly, that seems to be becoming rarer, especially on the internet and social media.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and healthy discussions can help us learn from one another.
But there’s a difference between sharing your point of view and deliberately trying to hurt someone.
Too often, people hide behind a keyboard and say things they would probably never say face to face.
Kindness doesn’t make your argument weaker.
Respect doesn’t mean you have to agree.
In fact, I think it takes far more strength to remain calm, listen, and respond with dignity than it does to lash out.
The world could use a little more empathy and a little less outrage.
We can disagree.
We can debate.
But we should never forget that there’s another human being on the other side of the screen.
Kindness and respect cost nothing, yet they can change an entire conversation.
