Peach

Not every sweetness arrives in spring.

Some gifts wait through long days of sunlight, drawing warmth into their quiet hearts.

A peach teaches patience.

It cannot be hurried, only welcomed when the season says, now.

I hold it gently, its velvet skin still carrying the memory of the sun.

One bite,

and summer becomes something I can keep, even after the leaves begin to fall.

I love the wisdom in ‘some gifts wait through long days of sunlight’, Maggie, and the thought that a peach ‘cannot be hurried, only welcomed when the season says, now.’

”welcomed when the season says, now.”

this is my favorite line because you point to now, which is real. i would never say a peach is my favorite fruit, until i’ve got a ripe one in my hand

This prompt has made me realise I haven’t eaten a peach in a long time. I’m lucky enough to be spoilt for choice with other fruit.

Not everyone likes peaches, but other fruits 🙂
