The Echo Keeper

The arches no longer hold a roof, yet they still hold silence.

Stone remembers.

It remembers voices raised in song, candles flickering against cold walls, children chasing one another after services, and old hands folded in prayer.

People call it a ruin.

The stones disagree.

A ruin is something forgotten.

This place is remembered every timesomeone pauses beneath an arch, runs a hand across weathered flint,or wonders who stood here centuries before.

The walls no longer keep out the rain, but they shelter something greater—

echoes.

Not the kind you hear,

but the kind you feel,

when history brushes past your shoulder

and reminds you

that time may wear away stone,

yet it cannot erase the stories

left behind.

Beautiful written. Ruins really hold something that the eyes don’t see but the mind perceives.
