I followed the wild path where the land opened beneath a bruised sky.
At the final cross, an old staff had been planted in the earth, its shadow stretching across the road like a warning. To the left, the trail narrowed until there was barely enough space to walk.
Something inside me split.
I had reached the last place where memory still held power—the hidden room of grief, where every loss waited beneath its dark hood.
For years, I had carried those memories like a private burial, returning to them whenever life began to grind me down.
But I no longer wanted to live among ghosts.
So I laid the past gently on the ground, not because it meant nothing, but because I had carried it far enough.
Then I stepped beyond the crossroad, into the open land.
The wild wind lifted my hair, and for the first time, the emptiness ahead did not frighten me.
It felt like freedom.
