Dislike
There are many things I dislike.
Cruelty dressed as honesty.People who judge without listening.Noise that drowns out kindness.
I dislike lies that steal trust,and injustice that asks us to look the other way.
I dislike goodbyes that come too soon,hospital corridors filled with worry,and photographs taken on days when I don’t feel like myself.
But I’ve learned something.
The things we dislike often teach us what we value most.
Because I dislike hatred,I choose compassion.
Because I dislike dishonesty,I choose truth.
Because I dislike giving up,I keep putting one foot in front of the other,even when the road feels long.
Perhaps our dislikes are not just complaints.
Perhaps they are quiet remindersof the kind of personwe hope to be.
