The Other Side of the Door
The moment I opened the door,
I knew everything had changed.
Not because the room was different.
Because I was.
For so long, I had stood on the threshold, hand on the handle, convincing myself I wasn’t ready.
Ready to forgive.
Ready to let go.
Ready to believe that the life waiting for me might be kinder than the one I had survived.
The door had never been locked.
Only my fear had kept it closed.
When it finally opened, no fanfare greeted me.
No angels.
No thunder.
Just fresh air carrying the scent of possibility.
Behind me stood every version of myself that had fought to get this far.
Ahead of me stood a path that had been waiting all along.
Sometimes we think opening a door changes the world.
It doesn’t.
It simply allows us to step into the one that has been patiently waiting for us.
And that…
changes everything.
