Weekly Prompts Colour Challenge – Black & White
Black & White

I’ve always loved black and white photographs.
There is something timeless about them. Without colour competing for attention, you notice the expressions, the light, the shadows, and the stories hidden in a single moment.
In high school, I chose photography as a subject. We learned everything from how a camera was built to taking it apart and carefully putting it back together again. My favourite part, though, was spending hours in the darkroom, watching black and white photographs slowly appear in the developing tray.
It felt like magic.
I loved it so much that I bought my own equipment so I could develop photographs at home. Long before digital cameras and editing apps, there was patience, chemistry, and the excitement of seeing an image come to life one gentle shade at a time.
Perhaps that’s why black and white photographs still speak to me.
They remind me that life isn’t always about bright colours. Sometimes the most beautiful memories are found in the contrast—light and shadow, joy and sorrow, beginnings and endings.
Just like life itself.
