What do you do to improve your sleep?

💫 Daily Prompt 03.07.2026
Sleep isn’t something I can plan very well these days.
As a caregiver, my sleep follows my husband’s needs more than my own. Most mornings begin around 5 a.m. so I can help him get ready for dialysis before the ambulance arrives to take him to the hospital.
Over time, I’ve learned to rest whenever I have the opportunity. If he sleeps, I try to sleep too. It isn’t always ideal, but it’s the rhythm our life has settled into.
One thing that does help is creating a peaceful atmosphere before I go to bed. I often listen to calming music or a guided meditation. Even if I don’t fall asleep immediately, it helps quiet my mind and release some of the worries that naturally come with being a caregiver.
This summer has been a little easier. With the schools on holiday, my daughters have been able to help more around the house, giving me a few extra moments to rest. Those small acts of support mean more than they probably realize.
I’ve come to understand that good sleep isn’t always about getting eight uninterrupted hours. Sometimes it’s about accepting the season of life you’re in, taking rest whenever you can, and being grateful for the people who help carry the load.
Rest isn’t only measured by hours asleep. Sometimes it’s found in the love of those who help you keep going.
