The Wild Ones

The Wild Ones
No fences in their minds.
No clocks upon their backs.
The meadow opens before them,
a sea of green and summer light,
and they run because running
is what joy looks like
when it forgets to hide.
Manes fly like untamed thoughts,
hooves drum a rhythm older than words,
and the earth answers beneath them.
They do not ask where the path leads.
They trust the grass,
the wind,
the herd.
Perhaps that is their secret.
Not the speed.
Not the strength.
But the certainty that life
was never meant to be spent
standing still.
So they race toward the horizon,
carrying nothing—
except the freedom
to become exactly
who they were born to be.
