The Friend Who Stayed
There are wounds we try to hide,
stories we carry quietly,
afraid that if we speak them aloud,
someone might turn away.
Perhaps that is why a true friend
is such a rare gift.
Not the one who appears when life is easy,
but the one who chooses to join you
through the difficult steps,
when the road feels uncertain.
Life can leave us feeling betrayed,
by people, by circumstances,
sometimes even by ourselves.
Yet healing often begins with a simple act of care.
A hand on a shoulder.
A listening ear.
A kind word offered at the right moment.
There is no weakness in needing others.
There is no shame in asking someone to share
the weight for a while.
And while pride may tell us to stand alone,
the heart knows differently.
The greatest pleasure in life is not success,
but connection.
To know you are seen.
To know you are valued.
To know you have not been missed or forgotten.
Because in the end,
the people who matter most
are the ones who remind us
that even after heartbreak,
we never walk alone.
