Bookmark

Bookmark—
a quiet promise

that says,
I will return.

A pause
between pages,
between moments,
between who we were
and who we are
still becoming.

Some bookmarks
are elegant—
pressed flowers,
silken ribbons,
carefully chosen
like treasures.

Others—

receipts,
forgotten notes,
old photographs,
proof that life rarely waits
for perfect timing.

I think hearts
carry bookmarks too—

memories tucked gently
between chapters.
People we miss.
Dreams unfinished.
Moments we revisit
when the world
grows quiet.

Maybe life
is not meant
to be rushed
to the ending.

Maybe we are allowed
to pause,
to rest,
to place ourselves
carefully
between the pages

and whisper,

I’m not done yet.
