Heartless

Heartless.

People say it
so easily.

As if hearts
simply disappear.

But sometimes—

what looks like coldness
is grief.

Exhaustion.
Disappointment.
Too many wounds carried too long.

Because rarely are people truly heartless.

Sometimes—

they are simply
trying to survive with a heart 
that hurts.
