What are the biggest mistakes people make when visiting your country?

Ohhh… where do I begin? 😅
As a Norwegian living in the Canary Islands for many years now…
Sometimes I honestly wonder if some tourists forgot their brain and their morals at the airport…
And before anyone gets offended…
Yes, sometimes I’m slightly embarrassed to be Norwegian abroad 🙈
The biggest mistake?
Not respecting the signs.
Especially beach flags.
If there is a red flag 🚩 on the beach, it means:
NO SWIMMING.
Not:
“I’ll just go in a little.”
Not:
“It looks fine to me.”
The ocean here can be dangerous, with strong currents people underestimate.
Those flags are there for a reason.
Another thing?
People ignoring nature rules.
Here in Fuerteventura, we have the famous Popcorn Beach — a beautiful beach covered in little coral pieces that look like popcorn.

And yet…
Even with signs clearly saying do not take stones or sand, tourists still fill bags and take pieces home.
Please don’t.
Leave the beauty where it belongs.
Honestly, after living the first five years in the biggest tourist area in Gran Canaria…
We eventually moved islands and stayed far away from tourist zones.
Peace and quiet won.
Travel is wonderful.
But respect the place you visit.
The people. The nature. The rules.
And maybe…
Read the signs first.
