Writing Time

They worked in silence.
Bent carefully over blank spaces, ink touching paper as though each word mattered more than the last.
The old monk measured hours differently. Not by clocks, but by devotion.
The younger one wrote quickly, aware that time moved faster now—measured in notifications, appointments, screens glowing long after midnight.
Above them, the faded clock lingered like memory. The calendar stretched quietly beneath their knees.
Days.
Weeks.
Promises made to tomorrow.
A laptop rested nearby, watching.
Modernity humming at the edge of the page.
Perhaps every generation writes time differently.
Some carve it into stone. Some preserve it in journals. Some type furiously into invisible clouds, hoping memory survives the next update.
But in the end, we are all doing the same thing—
trying to leave meaning inside borrowed hours.
The strange thing about time is that we believe we are managing it.
When perhaps…
it is quietly writing us.

With love
