Hopeful

Hopeful—
not because
the road is easy,

but because
something inside you still whispers:
keep going.

Hope
is stubborn 
like that.

It plants flowers
in tired soil.
Leaves windows open for light that has not yet arrived.

I have seen hope
wear heavy boots,
carry grief
on trembling shoulders,
and still move forward.

Not untouched.
Not unbroken.

Just unwilling
to surrender
to the dark.

Maybe hopeful
does not mean certain.

Maybe it means
choosing belief
while standing in uncertainty.

A sunrise
before the sun appears.
A hand held out before the healing comes.

Hopeful hearts
are not naïve.

They simply know
that storms
do not own
the sky forever.
