For Living Poetry

June Visual Poetry Prompt

Life is a boat journey.

Some days,
the water lies still—
golden light resting softly
on the surface,
the world holding its breath.

Life is quiet sunsets,
safe harbours,
and moments
that ask nothing of us
except to be present.

Life is drifting gently,
trusting the tide,
believing the shore
will appear again.

But life is not always calm.

Life is not water
without storms.

Some days,
the wind changes without warning.

The waves rise.

The sky darkens.

We lose our direction
and wonder
if we were ever meant
to find land at all.

Life is not certainty.

It is not smooth sailing
every single day.

Yet life is learning—

that storms pass,

that broken sails
can still carry us,

and even after
the roughest sea,

the sun remembers
how to rise again.
