What’s the most profound piece of advice you’ve been given? Did you take it?

This one feels deeply personal.
But perhaps the most profound advice I was ever given came many years ago from my family doctor.
At the time, I was very unwell, and struggling in ways people could not always see.
My doctor saw more than I realised.
She understood something I had not yet fully admitted to myself:
That my children and I could not continue living inside a situation filled with psychological stress and emotional harm.
She spoke honestly.
Directly.
And in a way that finally became my wake-up call.
Sometimes the most profound advice is not soft.
Sometimes it arrives when someone sees your pain more clearly than you can see it yourself.
Did I take the advice?
Yes.
Not immediately.
Because leaving hard situations is rarely simple.
But eventually, I did.
And looking back now, I know it changed the course of my life.
Sometimes strength is not found in staying.
Sometimes strength is found in leaving.
And sometimes the bravest thing we ever do is choose peace — even when it takes time.

With love
