1898

1898

Nobody knew who blew the bubbles.

Every Thursday at precisely four o’clock, they drifted across the old storefront as if time itself had exhaled. Children laughed. Tourists took photos. Shopkeepers shrugged and carried on.

Mrs. Finch, who had owned the dress shop for forty years, knew better.

The building had stood since 1898, surviving storms, fires, heartbreak, and changing fashions.

“Old places breathe too,” she’d whisper.

One evening, she locked up late and heard it—a soft sigh from the stone above.

Then came the bubbles, glowing in twilight.

Very mysterious, Maggie. I love the idea of the building still breathing. Reminds me of the Naga Fireballs in the Mekong River. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naga_fireball.
