Before the world grew loud,
we learned the language of stillness.

A calm lived between us—
the kind that did not need explaining,
only a touch,
a familiar hand reaching through silence.

You brushed my forehead
with something softer than sorrow,
something cool enough
to quiet the storms I carried.

There was a picture once—
two souls mid-laughter,
a moment we shared before time learned how to ache.

Your smile could still cheer
the tired corners of my heart,
gentle, 
kind,
like a forgotten dream I never stopped wanting.

And perhaps that is what love is—
to still want the warmth
of what once held you whole.
