Some songs become memories without asking permission.
This is another throwback to 2017, when my daughter finished 6th grade and celebrated her orla before starting high school.
One of those bittersweet moments as a parent — proud, emotional, and wondering how they suddenly grew up so fast.
And then… there was this song.
The first time I ever heard “Ahora Dice” was that day.
At the time, I had no idea that the song would become one of those moments frozen in time for me — the kind where one note later, and suddenly you are standing back inside an old memory.
Looking back, “Ahora Dice” arrived at a turning point in music too. While reggaeton had already been around for years, this song helped push Latin trap and reggaeton onto the global map in a whole new way. Suddenly, that Latin urban sound was everywhere — bold beats, emotion, rhythm, and stories wrapped inside music that crossed borders.
Funny how life works.
For many, it became a soundtrack to a musical shift.
For me?
It became the soundtrack to one of my daughter’s milestones.
A memory wrapped in music.
And every time I hear it…
I’m back in 2017 again. 💜
Music on, world off.
🎧 Ahora Dice — the song that carried a memory home.
With love
