There are songs that bring back memories.
And then there are songs that make you remember exactly how many speakers you accidentally helped destroy. 😂
Back in the 90s, when I worked as a DJ, there was one particular song we loved to use for a proper speaker and subwoofer test.
The mission?
Turn the volume up.
Then… up a little more.
And wait to see if the speakers survived.
The chosen victim was:
In the Middle of the Night by Magic Affair
That bass.
That beat.
That full-on 90s Eurodance energy.
If your speakers could handle this, they could handle anything.
And if they could not?
Well…
Let’s just say some speakers gave their lives in honorable service. 🔊🪦😂
Funny how one song can transport you straight back in time.
Suddenly, you are standing in a room full of cables, giant speakers, bad lighting, and people convinced that louder somehow meant better.
(It did. Obviously.)
Now when I hear it, I cannot help but smile.
The 90s really were something else.
