Evidence of the Dog

Bella ©️private
We blamed ghosts for missing slippers, chewed sandals, one very wounded shoelace.

Then the dog appeared—wide-eyed innocence, brindle stripes gleaming, ears taller than reason.

Bella,the menace in miniature,
collects our shoes like trophies of love and chaos.

It’s that wide-eyed innocence that gets you every time.A perfectly well-behaved quadrille, if not dog, and both adorable!! 🙂

Bella is a cutie, Maggie, and I enjoyed your quadrille. Our Jasper, who has been gone 17 years now, never chewed shoes, he guarded them, but he did chew the bottoms of doors and the ironing board – he used to hang off the end of it! Typical terrier. I love that you describe Bella as ‘the menace in miniature’.

Love love your poem. Well done and true. I had forgotten this phase of puppydom until I rescued three abandoned street dogs and left my hammock one day to find shoes gone. Finally found one in the backyard, the other on the upper terrace. All puppies now adopted and my shoes secure again.

You have a big heart with rescuing street dogs .

Bella is now 10 years , but still like a puppy. Typical for a French bulldog they say.
Bella is a mix , and nobody wants a black dog down here. Haven’t got an answer to why .
When we rescued her, she was so scared of everything, took us around 3 weeks before she trusted us humans.

One of the three dogs I rescued a few weeks ago was adopted by a family who named her Bella! A great name for a sweet girl puppy. The other two were adopted as well but I haven’t heard what names they gave them.

      Thank you Kim 💜.

She’s like my shadow now after the other dogs passed away.

Bella also thinks she’s a mother to cats.
When we found the first kitten , she adopted him as her own. A heart of gold 💛.
