✧ Part 13: Orbs — The Field of Influence ✧
An aspect is not a single point.
It is a field.
In astrology, the orb describes how close two planets are to forming an exact aspect—how wide the connection stretches…how strongly it is felt.
Because energy does not switch on and off at a precise degree.
It builds.
It peaks.
It fades.
Like a wave.
The closer the planets are to exact alignment, the stronger the aspect becomes.
This is the moment of intensity—where the energy is most focused, most visible, most alive.
But even before exactness…the aspect is already speaking.
And after…it continues to echo.
This is the nature of the orb.
✧ Applying vs Separating ✧
An aspect is always in motion.
When a faster-moving planet is moving toward exact alignment, the aspect is applying.
The energy builds. Something is forming. There is anticipation… movement… arrival.
When the planet moves away, the aspect is separating.
The experience has happened. Now it begins to settle—to integrate… to become part of you.
Both matter.
One shows what is coming. The other, what has already shaped you.
✧ Wide vs Tight Orbs ✧
Not all aspects carry the same strength.
A tight orb (very close to exact) feels strong, undeniable, central.
It becomes part of your core experience.
A wide orb is softer… more subtle… sometimes background.
But still present.
Still influencing.
In a birth chart, tight aspects often speak loudly—while wider ones whisper.
And yet…even a whisper can guide you.
✧ The Living Nature of Orbs ✧
There is no single rule for all charts.
Some astrologers use wide orbs. Others, very precise ones.
But beyond rules…there is feeling.
Because an orb is not just measurement—it is sensitivity.
It shows how far energy can reach.
How long it lingers.
How deeply it touches.

- the challenge of overgeneralizing or missing subtle influence
The orb reminds us:
An aspect is not a moment—it is a process.
And within that process…we feel the rise…the peak…and the quiet integration
of something that has moved through us.
